Digital X-rays
Digital radiography is an alternative to traditional x-rays which allows us to capture and store a digital image directly onto a computer. The beauty of this system is that it can be viewed instantly, can be enlarged for detailed analysis and produce significantly less radiation than traditional x-rays. We can also share these images instantly with your referring dentist if urgent treatment is required, saving you both time and money.
Orthopantomogram (OPG)
We have recently invested in a digital OPG machine for both our practices. These help provide us with a visual image of the upper and lower jaw in a two dimensional view from ear to ear. These are particulalrly useful for:
- Broad coverage of facial bone and teeth
- Low patient radiation dose
- Convenience of examination for the patient as films are not placed inside the mouth
- Ability to be used in patients who have restricted opening OR gag reflex
- Instant imagery
- Patient’s ready understandability of the image, making them a useful visual aid in patient treatment discussions.
CT Dentascan
The CT Dentascan is a unique CT Scanning machine that is designed to take 3D pictures of the jaw, gums, teeth and surrounding tissues. At Radny Periodontics and Dental Implant Centre we use the CT Dentascan services of nearby radiological clinics to plan the placement of dental implants. The benefits of this technology is that precise measurements can be made with the images displayed, allowing for an accurate treatment plan to be mapped out before any form of surgery begins.
Cone Beam
The Cone Beam is a CT Scanning machine which we use to assess the jaws and teeth. Its main advantages are that it produces a 3D image, with a low radiation dose. We predominantly use this machine during pre-implant placement analysis.
